Jeff Stonehouse has been swimming with whales, running with lions and even more frightening, he's worked for Comedy Central. He’s filmed hundreds of subjects all over the world, hobnobbed with celebrities and seen his work appear on myriad TV and movie screens.

“You really have to love doing it. Everyone thinks it’s all glamour, but there’s a lot of hard work and tedium involved. You’re sitting in a blind down in the Everglades in mosquito-infested mangroves waiting for a gator to move off its nest, and nothing happens for hours except you smacking mosquitos until you go insane.”

Now his resume features projects broadcast on NBC, CBS, PBS, the BBC, SyFy and the Comedy Channel, as well as spot work and brand content for The North Face, Yeti, Patagonia, Mini Cooper and McDonald's to name a few.

The commissions frequently involve variety and adventure, and not all experiences have been entirely safe. He once flew in a rusty helicopter with blown-out windows to reach a Haitian film shoot for rock group The Fugees.

Although he prefers hanging with the crew, he regularly works with celebrity talent, having shot ads with Lebron James, Tiger Woods, late actor Leslie Nielsen (of “Airplane” fame) and political commentator Bill Moyers. Early in his career he created music videos and concert films for Prince.

“Basically…the hype around them is usually the strange part. Working with real talent like the people in Haiti, or these little Inuit villages, that’s most rewarding. I feel like everyone I get to meet I’m privileged to meet, whether famous or not.”
